UK Finance currently represent around 300 firms across the sector, who they work for and on behalf of, to promote a safe, transparent and innovative industry, offering research, policy expertise, thought leadership and advocacy in support of their work.
In the summer of 2020 we were approached by UK Finance as part of a tender process to develop their existing website. It had been built in Drupal 7, but now needed to be upgraded to Drupal 9 of the Content Management System.
In addition to this, they felt that there were some areas of the site, particularly within the back end, that were not as flexible or intuitive as they could be.
Finally, the support and hosting requirements for the site were facilitated by two separate companies and UK Finance were keen to find an agency who could provide a ‘one-stop shop’ solution for all their digital needs.
Moore-Wilson were appointed by UK Finance to carry out the site redevelopment following a successful conclusion to the tender process and we kicked the project off with an intensive research phase, including multiple virtual workshops, scoping sessions with third parties and wireframes and designs for all the key pages.
At the same time, we also migrated their existing site across to one of our servers so that we could host and support it. We continued to make updates to the site and apply security patches where required, until the new website was ready for launch.
Following sign-off of the site’s functional specification document and a detailed project timeline, we began the development phase. This commenced with a detailed planning exercise, breaking down all the confirmed requirements so that the individual tasks could be correctly placed within the timeline.
As well as rebuilding existing functionality including the Members portal and upcoming Events areas, we also created many new features, such as an E-commerce area for members and an editable Consultation Tracker. Highlights of the build included:

"Because of the large scale of the project and also due to the COVID-19 restrictions that were in place, we managed the work virtually via weekly video calls throughout 2021. Close communication with UK Finance and continuous updates to the specification and project timeline, enabled all parties to work towards a successful launch date in Spring 2022.
Since launch the site has been well received both internally at UK Finance and also by member organisations and the few post launch snags that have been reported, were all addressed swiftly.
During the build process, UK Finance also asked Moore-Wilson to host and support all their other microsites (a mixture of Wordpress and Expression Engine sites) so these were migrated in batches and are now fully transferred as well.
As well as hosting the new site, we also fully support it and we’re now looking forward to building a long lasting relationship as UK Finance’s primary digital partner.
