A website, including an advanced application system, that showcases the state of the art PhD training across 4 different themes and iCase that exploit the unique research strengths and training infrastructure of UCL and Birkbeck University
UCL came to us on a recommendation from other UCL projects that we have been involved in, and they wanted to create a joint venture website between UCL and Birkbeck University of London to highlight the PhD training programme they provide to provide students with the opportunity to work with world class scientists and mentors.
They wanted a clear and modern website where users could easily find information about the programme and its 4 themes and iCase, as well as applying for the programme. They also needed a complex backend system where applications could be reviewed and approved
Due to the requirement of a complex multi step application form and an advanced back end system for reviewing and approving applications, it was recommended that the site was built in Drupal 9, which offers excellent security and advanced levels of permissions and workflows.
They had a clear brief and the site would need to provide the following:
We went through a thorough scoping and design phase. Working closely together with the client, we then got the site built fairly quickly so that UCL could start adding all the content.
The testing phase for the application part was pivotal to this project and needed to involve several parties and this was closely planned and executed.
The site launched on time in October 2021, in time for their next application intake.
Due to the requirement of a complex multi step application form and an advanced back end system for reviewing and approving applications, it was recommended that the site was built in Drupal 9
"The website is now up and running at https://www.uclbbk-mrcdtp.ac.uk/ and has significantly increased efficiency and saved time for the client, especially around the management of applications.
The site is fast and provides a very high lighthouse score in terms of accessibility, and best practices, all of which was important to the client.
The client opted for one of our fully-managed hosting packages, and continued support and we are delighted to be working with UCL on providing continued support for this project.
