NATS Holdings, formerly the National Air Traffic Services, is the main air navigation service provider in the United Kingdom. It provides air traffic services to 15 airports in the UK, including Heathrow and Gatwick, and handles 2.2 million flights each year. NATS has been a driving force in the aviation industry since its origins began as the National Air Traffic Control Services in 1962. Today the organisation plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of air traffic management.
NATS provide air traffic services to fifteen airports in the UK, including Heathrow and Gatwick, and handle 2.2 million flights each year. We have been working with NATS for over ten years and now host eight websites for them. It is crucial that NATS’ sites are highly available so that people are always able to access vital information, even in dramatic website traffic peaks, such as in 2010 when an Icelandic ash cloud caused major disruption to air traffic and large numbers of people were seeking solutions.
Well done guys - we got through it - great digital campaign across the website (with a funky timeline), blog, social media and superb hosting support! You all did NATS proud. Big respect and thanks to you all.
"A key part of the project involved working with the NATS Communications Team and Information Systems Teams to make improvements to the overall user experience. Moore-Wilson has made a number of recommendations to address the business-critical needs of our client, including improved caching and site performance that have been quickly taken on board by NATS and applied across its websites.
The high availability has meant that users will always have access to critical information and web services even in times of peak traffic, all while improving the user experience, this has resulted in Moore-Wilson ensuring that the project met and has delivered upon all of its objectives and key areas of improvement.
