We have listed the top five design blogs that we read and a little about why we love each one and how they inform our thinking about graphic design and website design.

Design Week

We like this blog because...

Design Week ‘online’ replaced the much loved ‘printed’ magazine which was a much-looked-forward-to read every week (away from the computer!). It was a sad day when that went out of print, the end of an era. It was 'the' designers gossip magazine. Design Week as it is today gives us a concise round-up of design news, views and inspiration across branding, editorial, exhibition, furniture, graphics, interactive, interiors, packaging, print, product and retail. We love to read the views of industry people. When logos are unveiled, such as the London Olympics 2012,  it caused great online debate that latest several years! ‘Voxpop’ is full of designers opinions (we are quite opinionated)... What was the best piece of design in 2012? How might Google's Project Glass glasses be adopted? It’s also great for keeping an eye on up and coming art and design exhibitions.

Creative Review Blog

The UK’s leading publication for the best in advertising, design and visual culture.

We have loved this publication since sharing a thumbed-up copy at Art school back in the 90’s. ‘Creative Review’ is still available as a paper production and some of Design Week went into this as it has the same publisher. The CR Blog is a great read for a behind the scenes look at branding, advertising and visual culture. Brain food for creatives... Excellent photography... Great for industry insider opinions and views...

Dezzen Blog

An online magazine for architecture, interiors and design. We enjoy this because it explores a good range of design disciplines globally in a clean and simple way. “When Dezeen launched in 2006, it aimed to bring a selection of the best buildings, design and interior projects from around the world. Now, it gets two million visits a month.” It’s full of visual inspiration.

Design Taxi

We like this blog site as it displays work that is quite unique to other blogs, often work that gives you ‘a smile in the mind’. It focuses on graphics, books, photography and packaging. We love the bright top five ‘highlights’ and the simple clean look of the blog in bitesize. According to Design Taxi, they have succeeded in "Driving you to bright ideas for the past 10 years." We agree!

Eye Magazine

Eye, the international review of graphic design, is a quarterly printed magazine about graphic design and visual culture. The blog has concise views on design across print and digital, interviews with designers, and exhibition information. It’s very informative and authoritative on design matters.
